Who Can Get A Library Card?

Residents of the Village of Millstadt are paying a tax that supports the Millstadt Library therefore, there is no further charge for a library card.  Anyone under the age of 16 must be be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to apply for a card. We ask that you please bring a valid, current Illinois Driver's License or State ID with you to sign up or renew a card for yourself (over age 16) or for a minor (under age 16.)  Adult and youth cards are good for three (3) years.

Those living outside the Millstadt Village limits, Non-Residents, do not pay a tax to support the Library.  Therefore they must pay a fee, determined by the State of Illinois, to join the Library.  As of June 2022,  the fee is based on the non-resident's net property tax. This is calculated by viewing your total taxable property value and multiplying it by .0015 (our tax rate.) The librarians can do this based on a copy of your tax bill or by searching it online. The card is good for one (1) year from date of purchase.
